Welcome Aneeta & Louise - the new additions to the Hillside team

As Hillside continues to grow, we have onboarded two valuable new team members. Aneeta Ann-Varghese joins us as Junior Project Engineer and Louise Horbury-Speed joins us as Business Co-Ordinator.

We pride ourselves on delivering a personable service, so Aneeta and Louise have answered a few questions to introduce themselves and let you into their world.

Aneeta has recently completed Masters' Degrees and we are delighted to support her career with hands-on experience.

Here, she explains more about her role at Hillside, her background, professional aims, and what she enjoys outside of work:

Tell us a bit about your background, how did you get to where you are now professionally? I'm a graduate with an academic background in Physics and Renewable Energy Engineering, plus a keen interest in the environment. At Hillside, being a Junior Project Engineer mainly involves designing heat pumps to help organisations convert to green energy. The role allows me to use my scientific and technical skillset to make a difference.

What made you want to work for Hillside? The renewable and sustainability measures taken by Hillside appealed to me, encouraging me to apply for a position. Now, being in a team that supports each other to feel content at work is something I appreciate a lot. Most importantly though, I want to work with a firm that seriously addresses climate change, and sustainability, and makes renewable energy options more readily available to society.

What is your favourite part of your job? Designing, doing calculations, providing solutions to problems, and overall learning something new every day whether it is about engineering or something else entirely. Taking the theory I have learned from my degrees and applying it in practice is something that I really enjoy.

Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work? I can’t name a particular person that influenced me. But I can say that I wake up every day and am happy about what I do. I love my job.

What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of? I really love the transition that I have made in my CAD drawings from December to January. I am new to a lot of information and techniques in this field so I am gradually getting there and am pleased with the progress I have made in a short space of time.

Do you have any aims or goals you'd like to achieve whilst working at Hillside? At the moment, I really want to work hard and help achieve the goals of the company. Hillside's values really resonate with me. And also to learn and acquire more experience from experts.

Can you give us a bit of an insight into your life outside of work? What are your interests? I relocated to Newark in December so I am still getting to know the area. I really enjoy good food, good music, movies, and a bit of dance.

One thing you've learned in the past year: either professionally or personally! Always have an open mind to new ideas and concepts. Be yourself and be your own support structure. And, most importantly, cherish little moments.

Oh, and work on my shopaholic habit!

Alongside Aneeta, it has been a pleasure to introduce Louise to the team. Following a varied career in Project and Account Management, Louise will be helping us to deliver an exceptional client experience.

Tell us a bit about your background, how did you get to where you are now professionally?

I’ve got a varied background in customer service, sales administration, account management, and

project management. They are all connected by the same thing - providing great customer service!

What made you want to work for Hillside?

Actively making a difference to protect our environment. Making an impact and achieving net zero is not an impossible task – we can all do our bit and it is not as hard as it sounds.

What is your favourite part of your job?

I really enjoy the variety of working for Hillside, each day is different but it's a good feeling to know everything I do helps reduce the carbon footprint of our clients.

Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

My parents - my dad always told me to find something I’m passionate about and to work hard while at work and have fun outside of work. Balance is really important.

What’s an accomplishment you’re really proud of?

I’m really proud to have played cricket for Nottinghamshire women at under 17 and under 19 levels.

Do you have any aims or goals you'd like to achieve whilst working at Hillside?

I’m really looking forward to seeing the end result of the projects the team has been working on since I joined. It will be satisfying to see how much clients' carbon footprint has been reduced. From a personal point of view, I’m just looking to get stuck in and help the team in any way I can.

Can you give us a bit of an insight into your life outside of work? What are your interests?

Outside of work, I enjoy camping and festivals with my friends and young family. I really enjoy watching sports, you can usually find me watching football, basketball, or cricket.

One thing you've learned in the past year: either professionally or personally!

Flexibility and balance are key to a happy life.

Both Aneeta and Louise have quickly settled into the office, where we're enjoying their company as well as their contributions to our work. They're looking forward to getting to know more of our clients, associates, suppliers, and partners.
